Delicious
I am now a member of Delicious and have entered 11 of my favorite blogs and sites for knitting, crocheting and quilting. It was interesting to see how many other people bookmarked the same sites. Finding other quality sites would be possible by searching a tag and then looking for those sites with the most number of bookmarks. This is definitely a great sharing tool for different interest groups. My favorite part of Delicious is having the ability to find all my bookmarks in one place. If anyone would like to check out my bookmarks at Delicious here's the link.

LibraryThing
I am now a member of LibraryThing and have entered 10 books with tags. In getting to know the site, I discovered that LibraryThing has over 500,00 members and has cataloged over 33 million books. Harry Potter books topped the most reviewed and most entries which is no surprise. I checked out the many groups you can join and discovered one for readers of Algonquin books. These books are usually very well written, sometimes quirky and always worthwhile. I must become a member of that group. And then I discovered under the "members with same books" section" a member named "witchyrichy"who had read 3 of the ten books I cataloged so of course I had to see what books he or she was reading. This is great fun, time consuming and very addictive.

Image Generators
I had already played with fdToys and added a comic caption to a picture of my granddaughter in her Halloween costume, so I took a look at Letter James, Generator Blogger and the ALA mini read poster. I decided that WCPL's Mr Booker needed his own poster and used the ALA mini read. What a quick and simple process. I must admit it is also quicker because I am feeling more comfortable using the different technology. Yeah!Friday, November 7, 2008
Blogline
I now have a Blogline account with 14 feeds. The feeds consist of national news feeds and columnists as well as library related feeds. I have added feeds from the Washington Post, NY Times and NPR book sections as well as New York Review of Books, Library Journal Reviews and Slate.com. I didn't find a feed for Indie Next which I check monthly. This was not a difficult exercise however keeping up to date with it may be time- consuming. My advice is to be discriminating.

Wordle
While wandering around 2.0 applications I discovered Web 2.0 Wednesday Challenge. This Educational site is similar to our 23 things except that it has been developed for educators to use with students. One week's challenge was to create a "wordle". I have been exploring this fun web tool for a....while. You can copy and paste text from blogs or create your own wordle art. I copied the tags from CCLS 23 things and look what happened
Flickr fun

After spending way too much time exploring Flickr mashups and web apps, I've come to the conclusion no one has an excuse for not being creative. Anything is possible from creating calendars to comics. Big Hugh Labs Flickr toys has an application called Captioner. Comic captions can be applied to any picture. Something different for photo albums, scrap booking, family reunions, programs etc.
